Do you feel stuck in a job you hate? Or maybe you’ve recently lost your main source of income and need a way to quickly replace it online. Whatever the case may be, I can happily tell you that there are lots of legit ways you can make money online!
While building an online business can take time, you can speed up the process by either using skills you already have or by learning new skills from others. For example, if you have experience as a customer support agent, you can offer email management services to online business owners starting at $25 per hour.
If you need money in the next couple days, you could also consider opening a reselling business. You can start with items you already have lying around the house and then browse thrift shops for more low priced items you can resell for a profit.
The list below includes the top ways I’ve found to make money online fast. If you need money within the next week or month, these are the niches I’d personally recommend. The skills they require don’t take more than a week or two to learn, so you can start making money pronto, even as a beginner.
Let’s dive into the list!

1. START A RESELLING BUSINESS
If you love visiting thrift stores and hunting for the next great deal, this could be the perfect business idea for you. Starting a reselling business can be a great way to monetize your hobby!
As a reseller, you can purchase used items at a discounted price from thrift stores, refurbish the items, and then sell them at a markup to earn a profit.
Wondering how much you could earn? Rob and his wife earned over $133,000 with their reselling business last year. They purchase items from thrift stores and sell them on online marketplaces like eBay and Facebook. Poshmark is another good marketplace if you want to focus on primarily selling fashion items!

2. become a freelance writer
Have you always had a knack for writing? If so, then you’re in luck! You can monetize your passion for words by offering freelance writing services to blogs and business owners.
I first ventured into freelance writing when I was struggling to find a job after college. My student loans were coming out of their grace period and I needed to earn extra cash fast! One of the first websites I wrote on was Constant Content. I was able to start earning between $25 to $50 for a 700 word post.
Thankfully, you can earn much more than $50 per post when you specialize as a freelance blogger. For example, Elna earns a minimum of $400 per post and even charges some clients $1,500 for one post!
She spills all of her secrets to earning more as a freelance writer in her course Freelance Blogging in a Weekend. I’ve recently gone through it and think it’s a great resource for new and seasoned writers who want to earn more per word.
The great thing about getting paid to write online is that you don’t usually need a degree or professional writing experience to start working with clients. Also, you can get your business up and running, and begin pitching clients within just a few days!

3. offer pinterest virtual assistant services
Love spending time on Pinterest? As it happens, you can make money online as a Pinterest virtual assistant.
When bloggers and small business owners hire a Pinterest VA, they can expect to see their website traffic go up. This increase in page views can results in:
- Increased digital or physical product sales
- More ad income
- Increased affiliate sales
Needless to say, it can be a great business move to hire a Pinterest virtual assistant. At this point, you might be wondering, “what exactly does a Pinterest VA do?“
They can help with things like pin design, scheduling pins using an official partner tool like Tailwind, writing search-optimized pin descriptions, joining new group boards/Tribes, and managing promoted pins. Most importantly, you can earn between $30 to $50 per hour when you decide to specialize in Pinterest services.

4. Manage Facebook ads for local businesses
If you’re wondering which home business on this list has the highest income potential, I’d wager it’s this one.
Experienced Facebook ad managers can charge anywhere between $1,000 to $2,000 per client, each month. Mike (co-creator of Facebook Side Hustle) earns over $30,000 per month and regularly turns down new clients because he has so much work.
Facebook ad managers help local businesses bring in more customers, promote offers, and grow their email list with people local to their business.
They can also offer their services to bloggers by helping with things like increasing pageviews, email subscribers, and product sales.
It’s a super valuable skill to develop and one that many business owners and bloggers are willing to invest in.
One other great thing about this home business is that you can learn the skills fairly quickly. If you need money within the next couple weeks, it will take a lot of hustle, but this is a great option!

Closing thoughts
You may have noticed that most of the online business ideas on this list involve freelancing. There are dozens of other legitimate ways you can make money from home, but in my experience, freelancing is the fastest.
Blogging, Pinterest affiliate marketing, or creating your own digital products can also be very profitable, but they can potentially take months before they begin to profit.
That said, if you’re a blogger and already have an audience, product creation may be the path to go. Whereas, if you have experience proofreading from your day job, offering proofreading services could be a quicker way for you to start earning online.
No matter what kind of home business you decide to start, know that it’s possible to make a full time income working from home. And how quickly you do depends a lot on hard work and consistency. If you show up every day and take consistent action, it will compound and lead to more clients, or more sales in the case of a reselling business.
